12/15/2023 0 Comments Fog harbor house![]() ![]() We enjoyed it so much we almost missed our ferry home. An extremely elegant atmosphere with the charm of the bay coupled with customer service that is far beyond the common fare seen in similar restaurants.I took two young adult family members here for a late lunch on a rainy afternoon. In conclusion, Fog Harbor Fish House really shows what chefs can create with quality ingredients. Definitely worthwhile for that "special meal" that comes around. ![]() In my mind, it is a tax for the ambiance and location of the meal. ![]() Value: B+ With it being San Francisco and on the bay, the cost tends to be higher than other nearby restaurants. She is reason alone for giving a 5 rating and not a 4. There was a slight issue with one of my children's plates that she quickly fixed even though it was to no fault of the restaurant. Her personality and sincerity really shined above any recent outing we have had recently. Service: A+ Our waitress provided us with the best experience to really create the perfect conclusion to a busy day in San Francisco. Overall, it was great but the salmon was definitely the star of the show. The other dishes we tasted included the mixed seafood grill. The beurre blanc sauce definitely made my dish highly appetizing. The scallops were perfectly cooked with the risotto being a tad bit overcooked for my palate. Food: A- Being a coastal city with fisherman ports, the seafood was excellent and, more importantly, fresh. She followed Covid guidelines, was well-spoken, and made sure to strike up a casual conversation that made us feel welcome. Our waitress provided us with the most ideal service possible. We were able to enjoy the sun setting over the various waves. We were lucky and sat directly at one of the best viewing windows directly into the bay. It was a very disappointing snack, drink and service.įirst impressions: A What better way to end a day of adventuring in San Francisco than being on the docks chowing down on some delicious seafood! We made reservations earlier and were seated promptly upon arrival to Fog Harbor. However, a warning for those who love fresh calamari that has a strong calamari flavor - do not order this dish, unless you love the taste of breading. Maybe the other seafood at the restaurant is good, with the fish being highlighted. If we would've been asked how our food ways we would've been honest without being mean, but we never had the chance. I tried the Manhattan cocktail since it was made with my favorite bourbon, Buffalo Trace, but the drink only had a bourbon taste, but was missing that sweet vermouth and hint of bitters. I can't assume why but even my cocktail drink was disappointing. To make the visit even worse our waiter didn't even ask how our meal was. We had to break apart the breading from each piece just to get to the calamari and by then, all it tasted like was the breading seasoning. Now to be honest, the breading had a good flavor, but the calamari was lost. As you can see from the picture, about half of the dish was just breading. The best part of the dish were the jalapenos and onions. The calamari dish (costing $17) was billed as fried calamari with jalapenos and grilled onions with a lemon aioli. Thus, while we were visiting San Francisco and exploring all of the city's rich food scene we were hungering for some delicious Calamari and what better place to try out than at one of San Fran's top seafood restaurants? Well, the joy of our dish stopped at the view. My wife and I love fresh, flavourful seafood. ![]()
