We have an official Long Road To Ruin tab made by UG professional guitarists. The chorus repeats again, suggesting that this long road to ruin is not a dead end but rather a chance to create one's own future. The bridge portrays the idea of leaving one's past behind and looking towards the horizon, with a sense of determination and purpose. The guitar solo serves as a moment of catharsis and release, representing the emotional intensity and turmoil that comes with making difficult decisions. ![]() The message is that even though there are walls to climb and fields without names, one should not be afraid to head into the unknown and take their destiny into their own hands. The second verse contains a call to action, with the narrator urging themselves and others to take control of their lives and make meaningful changes. The cold streetlights represent the harsh reality of the present moment, with no clear vision for the future. This road is a symbol for the challenges and struggles faced by those who are taking risks and making changes, even though the path one takes is uncertain and can often be lonely. The chorus revolves around the idea of a "long road to ruin" that the narrator can see reflected in the eyes of others. The pre-chorus touches on the idea of the changing seasons and the inevitability of fate, with the narrator acknowledging that they have made some irreversible decisions. The first verse sets the scene of a world in flux, with flags being replaced and people struggling to find a sense of belonging and purpose. Here are some instances where the “short expression” is not all that short:Īs Imagen Randolph suggests, in a salacious memoir that caused quite a scandal, “There was always inappropriate behaviour at his parties.” Of course, your signal phrase can include more than the author and the verb. One of the easiest ways to introduce a quotation is to announce who the speaker or author is and to add a verb that describes the way in which the idea is expressed: Quotations are categorized by the way they are introduced, and there are three main types of signal phrases. When a quotation is followed by parentheses, final punctuation is removed from the end of the quotation (with the exception of question marks and exclamation marks found in the source) and your own punctuation follows the citation. For example, titles are normally only mentioned if they are directly relevant, or if you are citing multiple works by the same author. Other details can be saved for the works cited page. The signal phrase consists of your own words that signal to the reader that a quotation is coming. In academic writing, nearly every quotation is made up of three parts: a signal phrase, the quote itself, and some kind of citation:Įxample: As Kurt Ramble argues, “Urban farming should be incorporated in the elementary school curriculum” (78).
